The Mission Darkness™ EMF Blackout Hat is a comfortable shielded baseball style cap perfect for everyday wear. It’s lined with a discreet layer of TitanRF™ Flex Faraday Fabric, an electromagnetic frequency (EMF) shielding material that has been lab certified to confirm shielding effectiveness standards IEEE 299-2006 (see report below). This material provides a barrier between your head and harmful electromagnetic radiation (EMR) and radio frequencies (RF) coming from mobile devices, cell phone towers, smart meters, and other outside sources. The hat is breathable, flexible, and uses an adjustable snapback closure that fits most head sizes from 21.5″ to 23.6″ (55cm to 60cm) circumference. Wear during travel, while on the phone, at a workstation, or any location where you want to reduce your exposure to EMF.

 

We included a faraday testing pouch constructed out of TitanRF™ Flex Faraday Fabric (the same shielding material used in the hat), so you can use the Mission Darkness app to test the signal blocking capabilities of the material yourself! A fully enclosed faraday cage (like the testing pouch) is required to perform the test. The hat ships is a deluxe resealable box, ensuring that it retains its structure while stored inside, and serves as a presentable gift box.

The TitanRF™ Flex Faraday Fabric lining the beanie has been tested and certified to confirm shielding effectiveness standards IEEE 299-2006. The shielding effectiveness test was conducted by Keystone Compliance, a full-service regulatory compliance laboratory offering solutions for nearly all EMC/EMI, environmental, ISTA-certified package and ingress protection testing requirements.

 

IEEE 299-2006 is the standard test method for measuring the effectiveness of electromagnetic shielding enclosures and materials. The TitanRF™ Flex Faraday Fabric is advertised as a material that can be used to block the frequency range most mobile devices and electronics transmit/operate within. To provide validation for this claim, the shielding effectiveness test measured how well the fabric shields frequencies between 1.5GHz to 40GHz. The positive test results provides authentication of its shielding abilities.

 

 

EMF Radiation Shielding Apparel

 

Mission Darkness™ offers a growing line of EMF radiation shielding apparel and home interior products. The main function of the shielding apparel line is to offer a barrier between your body and harmful electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) and radio frequencies (RF) inside your home, office, and public places, such as those coming from cell phones, laptops, Wi-Fi routers, smart meters, 5G cell towers, and additional sources.

 

Similar to how our faraday bags block signals from penetrating, shielded apparel uses the same materials to prevent signals from reaching your body. Please note that blocking EMF requires the same materials (faraday fabric) as blocking signals, but not the same construction methods. To effectively block signals like cell and Wi-Fi, a fully enclosed faraday cage is required. This means you would need to COMPLETELY cover your body with fabric, with no openings, to block these signals from reaching you. It’s impractical to do this for daily life, so the next best option is to reduce EMF by covering vulnerable areas with the same materials. This beanie includes faraday fabric that can completely block signals, but you cannot test this capability without a full faraday cage. For this reason, we included a testing pouch built with the same materials to demonstrate the signal blocking properties of the material in your beanie.
