The new μFRED maintains its small chassis (17″ l x 9″w x 11.5″h) heritage while boosting processor power, clockspeed, drive capacities, and adding liquid cooling. Built to handle the processing needs of modern computer and mobile forensics software, μFRED is a lower priced alternative to traditional forensic towers. Standard on new μFRED is a powerful Intel i9-14900K 24-core (8 performance / 16 efficiency) with up to 6 GHz clock and 36 MB SmartCache. 64 GB of PC5-38400 DDR5 RAM comes standard, expandable up to 96 GB.

With up to seven (7) storage devices, μFRED systems provide ample capacity for modern forensic software processing. Drives include two (2) internal M.2 NVMe slots, with one 500 GB drive reserved for the Windows 11 operating system. Twelve different USB connections provide external connectivity. Network data transfers are fast and efficient with an integrated 2.5 gigabit Ethernet connection. The integrated WiFi and Bluetooth have been upgraded as well.

All μFREDs include an UltraBay 4™ write blocker for imaging SATA, SAS, IDE, USB 3, FireWire, and PCIe suspect drives. An integrated, hot-swap USB 3.1 connected removable drive tray is available for the storage and process of case work and digital evidence. μFRED ships pre-installed with Tableau Imager (TIM) to maximize sustained forensic imaging rates through the UltraBay 4.
