CRU released an updated driver, version 1.0.3.4, for the CRU WiebeTech USB 3.0 WriteBlocker. Please accept our apologies if you’ve not heard this news prior to now.

This driver adds a useful capability: support for UASP device types and we strongly advise that you relay this information to your customers to perform this update today.

Note that units shipped on or after April 18, 2016 have the version 1.0.3.4 driver already installed on the thumb drive that ships with the USB 3.0 WriteBlocker.

UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) is a new way for USB devices to communicate with a computer running Windows 8 and newer versions of Windows. It’s more efficient than standard USB Mass Storage communication, leading to better performance with the same hardware. UASP allows some newer USB storage products to be seen by the computer as SCSI drives. USB products that support this feature may use it automatically when attached to PCs with a compatible OS. With CRU’s newest driver update, such products will now be protected from alterations when connected through USB 3.0 WriteBlocker.

You can download the updated driver from the “Resources and Documents” tab on the product’s web page. Or you can directly download the exe file from this link: CRUWBlocker-1.0.3.4-(2016.04.14).exe

The USB 3.0 WriteBlocker firmware is updated periodically, so it’s worthwhile to occasionally check the product web page to see if there is a new version of the driver available. We will also ensure we email you more promptly with news of updates, as well as include this information in our Channel Announcement newsletter.
