Magnet Forensics is excited to unveil Magnet AXIOM 3.0—the most powerful and intuitive version of Magnet AXIOM yet.

Bringing Support for macOS

With AXIOM 3.0, Magnet Forensics have introduced the ability to search and recover data from Apple products running macOS. AXIOM can now support decrypting FileVault2-encrypted drives, containers, and volumes, as well as support for parsing artifacts from APFS sources and traversing the File System explorer in AXIOM.

And, in keeping with our artifacts-first approach, they have also added more support for relevant macOS artifacts, including support for parsing user accounts information, FSEvents, connected devices, MRUs and the KnowledgeC database.

A New and Enhanced Timeline

Looking at evidence through a time lens is one of the most common ways to understand a case, so with that in mind, Magnet Forensics have greatly improved Timeline to provide you with a dedicated explorer to help you visually understand all timestamped artifacts and file system data in one view. The evidence can be easily filtered and sorted by date/time ranges, specific artifacts/items of interest, and keywords to help making review and analysis easier.

New Cloud Sources

With new and varied cloud sources becoming common in cases, examiners need to be able to retrieve evidence from new sources. With AXIOM 3.0, users can now get evidence from Slack and public data from Twitter, as well as “Download Your Info” & warrant return packages from Facebook.

Media Categorization Enhancements

In an effort to give ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) investigators the best data possible, AXIOM 3.0 has seen increased compatibility with Project VIC/CAID hash sets and a redesigned media categorization to help focus investigations on the data that is important.

More Improvements and Artifacts Support

n addition to all of these updates, Magnet AXIOM 3.0 also sees improvements to the Dynamic App Finder and Magnet. AI, as well as a host of new supported artifacts available. Head over to the Magnet Forensics blog for more in-depth details.
